EUR 115 bln – this is the amount the Swedish government and local authorities intend to invest in construction and infrastructure projects in the Stockholm region by 2040. The biggest problem for this investment is not financing, but... the lack of contractors. This opens up a huge opportunity for Polish companies – and not only those in the construction sector!

Of this sum, EUR 59 bln will be invested in housing, while EUR 32 bln will be spent on infrastructure projects (roads, urban transport and railways), EUR 5.6 bln on educational buildings, and EUR 5 bln on office projects.

Konrad Szczęsny, the business development manager of Stockholm Business Region, the agency responsible for investment in the area of the Swedish capital. Konrad Szczęsny told us the specificity of the Swedish construction market and the most impressive projects - both those ongoing and those that will start soon;
Jan Styliński, the CEO of the Polish Association of Construction Industry Employers, who explains why Polish companies should not be afraid of applying for contracts in Sweden and also indicates which sectors are most likely to award them (spoiler alert: not just for construction firms).

Nordbygg is the largest trade fair for the construction industry in the Baltic Sea region – this year's edition was attended by over 900 exhibitors, while the number of official events (mainly lectures and panel discussions) exceeded 300, excluding those organised by the exhibitors themselves.

The fair halls housed, among others, a huge stand co-organised by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), the Polish Association of Construction Employers, the Polish Association of Designers and Engineers (ZOPI) and Svensk-Polska Handelskammaren – almost 30 Polish companies showcased themselves as well as several others with their own stands at the Stockholm event.
