<>Media Markt at opening of Poznań centre

<>Media Markt, the German electronics retailer, has signed a contract to take 7,200 sqm sales space in the King Cross Marcelin centre in Poznań, which is scheduled to open in 2005. 200 sqm of the store will be on the ground floor with the remainder on the first floor of the two level complex. Media Markt will be one of the ten anchor tenants in the shopping centre, which along with 120 smaller retail units will complement a Geant hypermarket. Jones Lang LaSalle represented Kings Cross Marcelin in the deal.

<>Vistula aiming to get into retail

<>Vistula SA the Kraków based clothes manufacture has announced that it intends to set up its own retail network, with 66 outlet openings pencilled in for the coming three years. As well as investing PLN 20 mln in developing its own retail operations the firm, which has been quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 1993, would also like its own-branded products to be sold in foreign markets by the middle of 2005. For the financial year 2003 Vistula's net loss narrowed to PLN 5,4 mln (PLN 69.1 mln loss in 2002) on turnover of PLN 111.1 mln (PLN 122 mln).

<>TK Development to build retail centre in Toruń

<>A new shopping and leisure centre, Galeria Toruńska, will rise up on the site of the old Apator factory in the northern city of Toruń. The Danish developer, TK Development will also invest PLN 12 mln in works to be carried out by the city council to improve a road and viaduct adjacent to the site. Construction should begin this year, with opening scheduled for autumn 2005.

<>Redan restructures and expands

<>Listed Polish clothing designer and retailer, Redan, has created five new subsidiaries which will take care of its retail and wholesale activities. Each with PLN 50,000 of capital they are called Rokappa, Getar, Kadmus, Lunar and Krux. The Łódź based company, which was formed in 1995 will open 4 new Troll (to 79 oulets), 7 Textile Mill (to 63) and 9 Top Secret (to 40) stores before September 2004. Redan notched up EUR 23 mln of sales in the first half of 2004, an increase of 65 pct y-o-y.

<>Retail therapy for old site in Gorzów

<>RTC Mysłowice, a subsidiary of Raiffeisen Evolution Project Development (REPD) is to build a retail and leisure centre on the site of a former meat factory in the city of Gorzów (north west Poland). Land has already been purchased for PLN 5.5 mln and further investment for development will be PLN 19 mln. Construction on the 22,000 sqm centre will begin around the end 2004 and will be completed in the spring 2006.
