Spanish hotel chain tests 3D holographic videoconferences

Technology
EUROPE Spanish hotelier NH Hotel Group has launched an innovative videoconferencing system that enables 3D holographic projections and real-time collaborative communication solutions.

The hotelier permanently installed 3D holographic videoconference sets in the meeting rooms in two of its hotels: in Madrid and Berlin. Now the company will be pilot-testing holographic transmissions in the two locations. The solution comes as part of the newly-developed High Tech Made Easy service designed to improve the quality of meetings and events held at NH hotels. “This move makes NH Hotel Group the first hotel chain in the world to implement this revolutionary hotel system, which enables impressive holographic presentations and live videoconferences by connecting up two or more hotel locations,” NH Hotel Group informed. Meanwhile, the company’s other properties will be equipped with the Smart Room System for Microsoft Lync online videoconferencing systems which enable for arranging 250-attendee video calls. “This system is due to be up and running at the Group’s main strategic international destinations in the near future,” the hotel chain added. NH Hotel Group operates nearly 400 hotels under four brands, offering almost 60,000 rooms in 28 countries worldwide, including five CEE markets. The Spanish hotelier also runs an in-house technology hub, Living Lab Hotel, in one of its Madrid hotels to serve three areas: early hotel technology-testing in real-life environment, providing space for start-ups to develop, test and implement their new products, as well as enhancing and channeling open dialogue with customers, employees and partners.
