Inditex continues to implement its garment-tracking system

WORLD Spanish retail giant Inditex continues to roll out a RFID-supported inventory monitoring tool across its Zara stores worldwide. By 2016, the fashion retailer aims to deploy the solution in all Zara stores (1,985 outlets as of October 31st, 2014) and implement it across the rest of its brands thereafter.

The system enables Zara to speed up the purchasing process and improve the availability of popular stock on the shop floor through better data collection between stores and distribution centres. The RFID system codes each garment in the logistics centres, which means that when shipments reach the stores twice weekly, the system immediately pinpoints which sizes and models need replenishing. By the same token, the system drives enhanced customer service by enabling immediate identification of size availability either in-store, in nearby stores or online, the company says.
