‘Marriott’s Siri’ to be rolled out globally

Technology
WORLD Marriott International is expanding Mobile Requests, a feature on its mobile app that allows guests to chat in real time directly with hotel staff to ask questions, or request on-site services and amenities, to its properties worldwide.

Marriott launched the two-way chat option with on-property staff earlier this year. The Mobile Requests functionality is offered to the 54 mln members of the company’s loyalty program Marriott Rewards.

“With Mobile Requests, guests can communicate immediately with their hotel right from their smartphones wherever they are before, during and after their stay, making the Marriott Mobile app experience for next generation travelers seamless, intuitive and fulfilling," said George Corbin, senior vice president of digital at Marriott International. As for now guests can choose to text in five languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, French and German.

Marriott is also offering a similar chat-enabled solution, Meeting Services App, to its events clients across selected hotels. The meeting management app, available in multiple languages, allows meeting planners and coordinators to make and adjust real-time requests through mobile devices.
