LEDs to save bookworms

The new system was designed mainly for those pedestrians who walk around with their heads stuck in books or staring at their smartphones. The new system has been set up in the centre of the city next to the city hall, at a place where there is a lot of pedestrian and vehicle traffic and where a large number of accidents occur that are mainly caused by pedestrians crossing the road on a red light. By the end of the year, a similar system is to be installed on an adjacent crossing, but with an unbroken line of LEDs. The system is being both supplied and installed free of charge by a private company and for the next six months it will be operated on a trial basis by the traffic police. If the LED trial is successful, especially over the winter months, it could be installed on further pedestrian crossings.
