According to the survey smart technology improves the comfort of everyday life (43 pct), makes the management of home appliances convenient (33 pct) and makes household chores easier (30 pct). The desire to try new products (27 pct) is also an incentive to buy this type of equipment. Almost 43 pct expect the internet of things to have an ever greater impact on everyday life. Around 70 pct stated that they wanted more home appliances such as fridges, washing machines, coffee makers and vacuum cleaners to communicate over the web. “According to forecasts, sales of smart devices, not including smartphones, will increase by 9 pct worldwide to over EUR 130 bln this year,” says Sebastian Karwacki, the head of the large household appliances retail department at RTV Euro AGD. “The internet of things, which has mostly been associated with the smart home systems, is increasingly used in household appliances. Automatic vacuum cleaners remember the layout of an apartment, sonic brushes recognise how individual’s brush their teeth and shavers that allow you to create a shaving plan,” adds Jakub Koss, the head of the small household appliances department at RTV Euro AGD.
