Data4 is launching a new data centre campus in Escaudain, in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France. The "Parc des Soufflantes" brownfield site is to be transformed into an innovative technology campus. Upon completion, the project will create 2,400 permanent jobs in the region. At the end of 2025, the group announced that it had been selected by the local authorities of the La Porte du Hainaut metropolitan area as the exclusive partner to redevelop the former Usinor factory site.

The development of data centre campuses across the European continent is essential to supporting the growth of digital services, the rapid development of artificial intelligence, and ensuring Europe's strategic autonomy in the digital sector. Prioritising the redevelopment of brownfield sites, Data4 has already transformed the former Alcatel (PAR01 campus) and Nokia (PAR03 campus) factories near Paris into a 500 MW data centre hub, one of Europe's largest. The planned 700 MW campus in Escaudain, spanning 33 ha, will currently be Data4's largest project in France.

The Hauts-de-France region is an area of immense strategic importance and one of Europe's main connectivity and communications hubs. With the support of national and regional authorities, we will be able to redevelop this area, integrate it into the digital industry, and build the sovereign, sustainable, and competitive infrastructure that France and Europe so urgently need.
Olivier Micheli, CEO of Data4

Additional studies and preliminary construction work will continue over the next 12 months. Four next-generation data centres will be built in the following years. The buildings' design incorporates the latest environmental innovations, such as the use of low-emission concrete and the recovery of waste heat emitted by servers, which will help reduce the environmental footprint.
