For some time now, the environment has been one of recurring shocks and uncertainty. This inevitably affects businesses, which remain the backbone of every national economy – including Poland’s.
The construction sector, together with related industries, accounts for around 14 pct of Poland’s GDP. It is, therefore, fair to say that when the economy “sneezes,” construction catches a cold. Unfortunately, the sector is currently grappling with just such “a cold”, and its slowdown is spilling over into the wider market.
A stabilised slowdown
The Polish construction market is today in what can best be described as in a state of stabilised slowdown. Conditions are no longer deteriorating, but the sector remains stagnant, and breaking this impasse requires decisive measures.
