During the Covid pandemic, retail parks and convenience centres became the darlings of investors, as they were still able to turn in a profit in spite of the situation. Those days are gone, but such formats remain the driving force in Polish retail and the question has now become: what’s the smallest community that such a format could serve?
“The market is not yet saturated. Smaller urban centres in Poland remain on the radar of developers and investors. The format in which retail facilities are being developed in these locations responds well to the needs of the local market. In smaller towns, convenience-type projects in the form of retail parks are often being launched,” explains Bartosz Nowak, the managing partner of Polish retail park developer Scallier.
