First Well certificate awarded in Poland

Green projects
POLAND The offices of BuroHappold Engineering in Spektrum Tower in the centre of Warsaw have been awarded WELL Certification with a rating of ‘Gold’ for its office in Warsaw by the International WELL Building Institute.

The office of around 1,300 sqm scored highly in seven categories: Air, Water, Light, Nourishment, Fitness, Comfort and Mind. When designing the space BuroHappold paid special attention to the lighting and the acoustics. Using Comfortmeter methodology 66 pct of employees were recorded as happy about the sound levels, as compared to the 59 pct best practice benchmark and 85 pct were satisfied with the overall lighting levels, exceeding the European best practice benchmark of 78 pct.

“We are excited to congratulate BuroHappold for achieving the first WELL Certification in Poland. Through its Gold level WELL Certified office in Warsaw, BuroHappold has demonstrated outstanding leadership by supporting healthier people through better buildings and helping to advance this movement in Poland and globally,” said Rick Fedrizzi, the chairman and CEO of the International WELL Building Institute.

There are currently five buildings in Poland that have been pre-certified with WELL, including three buildings of the Varso office project and two of Burakowska 14 – all of which are being developed by HB Reavis. Another 13 projects are currently undergoing certification.
