CZECH REPUBLIC 3D-printed house “built” in 22 hours

The entire house, including inside partitions, was printed in just 22 hours and required 17 tonnes of concrete mixture. The process is completed as the concrete hardens, and when it is finished the house will be transported to Prague. At the end of the summer it will open to the public anchored off Střelecký ostrov island.

Prvok (also called Protozoon by Buřinka) is now undergoing several important tests, including for static pressure, which have already established that the internal load-bearing wall can withstand a 50-tonne load – much more than the impact of an avalanche. Other tests are to follow. The Czech Ministry of Trade and Industry is acting as the patron of the project.

At the beginning of June, the developer of the project, Buřinka, a building society owned by Česká spořitelna (a member of Erste group), carried out a survey of 9,000 clients on the important factors when purchasing a new house or restoring an old one. Eco-friendly systems that reduce the cost of living, such as heat pumps or solar panels for water heating, were considered important by 48 pct of the respondents. The survey also showed that 3D-printing in residential construction has been well received by the public. “

More than a half of our clients can imagine living in a 3D-printed house, whether it is round or angular. Only one quarter do not see 3D-printing as a direction the Czech construction industry might take.
