Romania Skanska achieves first with second Equilibrium building

Green projects
The second building of Skanska’s Equilibrium project in Bucharest has been awarded preliminary Net Zero Carbon Buildings certification by the Romania Green Building Council.

It is the first building to be certified under the scheme. The building is now in the first of the two evaluation stages, with the final certificate to be awarded once final recommendations have been implemented and once the building’s operations have been monitored for at least three months. Skanska actively partnered with RoGBC in the development of the Net Zero Carbon Buildings certification, which is based on research conducted by RoGBC to reduce CO2 emissions. The new certification is complementary to certificates such as LEED, GREEN HOMES, BREEAM, and WELL and is applicable to all types of buildings including commercial, residential and industrial developments.

The twelve-storey building will eventually comprise 19,900 sqm gla and LEED pre-certified with a rating of ‘Gold’. Construction work should be completed in the first quarter of 2023. On completion, the entire two-building complex will have a leasable area of 40,800 sqm.
