Budapest turning green

Green projects
HUNGARY Budapest now offers around 240,000 sqm of environmentally friendly office space, representing 7.5 pct of total modern office stock, according to Colliers international. By 2014, this figure is expected to rise to 10 pct.
By the end of 2014, four BREEAM certified office projects should have been completed as well as two LEED certified office buildings. This will result in a total of 112,000 sqm of green office space being added to the city. Green shopping centres have also started appearing in the city. Both the Campona and Pólus Centre malls have been awarded ‘Good’ for BREEAM In-Use, while the Szeged Árkád shopping centre has been awarded a DGNB ‘Gold’ certificate and the

Arla Global Shared Services – Arla GSS will move its local headquarters to the Punkt office building under construction in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz. The company has leased nearly 10,000 sqm of space, to which it will move in early 2026.

Romania Leading distributor extends lease at MLP Bucharest West

A large distribution network operating in the Romanian market has extended its lease of 10,400 sqm of warehouse space at the MLP Bucharest West logistics park. According to the agreement, it will additionally receive modern office space of 330 sqm for use.

Mitiska REIM, specialist investor in European convenience real estate, has announced it has secured a EUR 50 mln co-investment alongside the MEREP 3 value-add fund from the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Along with other investments, this brings the total funds raised so far by MEREP 3 to EUR 290 mln.

Panattoni has started speculative construction of the next phase of the Wrocław Campus 2 logistics complex. By June 2025, ca. 30,000 sqm will be delivered – part of a hall that will eventually reach 130,000 sqm, with the entire project totaling 160,000 sqm.

Czech Republic Record-breaking year for the Czech market

According to a survey by Cushman & Wakefield, which has been tracking new entries for 11 years, 47 brands entered the Czech market in 2024. This is the highest number of brands to enter the Czech market, compared to 40 brands in 2023.

CTP holds the record

The newly constructed warehouse, which has expanded CTPark Prague West, has been certified as the most environmentally friendly industrial building in the Czech Republic according to ‘BREEAM New Construction’ standards, with a record score of 92.1 pct. The building is home to Rhenus Logistics, which uses it as a cross-dock for its pan-European network for collection services and warehousing.

Very Green Norblin

Owned by the Capital Park Group, the Warsaw mixed use complex Norblin Factory has received the final BREEAM certificates for both its office and retail sections. A photovoltaic system has been installed in the complex, and the managers are continuing their efforts to steadily reduce the property’s carbon footprint.

Platinium P180

Energy consumption reduced by almost 48 pct, almost 4 mln litres of water saved in a year and CO2 emissions reduced by more than 3,900 tonnes - these are the savings generated by the Warsaw P180 office building, developed by Skanska in Warsaw by the Wilanowska metro station. The investment has just received LEED Core & Shell certification at the Platinum level.

CA Immo’s green lease initiative

CA Immo has concluded 45 lease agreements with a total of nearly 29,000 sqm of office space in Warsaw in the past year, 20 pct of which in Q4 of 2022. The company has also introduced a green lease initiative in 2022, governing mutual commitment of landlord and tenant to optimize sustainable building operations. Since May 2022, 23 green lease agreements have already been concluded.
