Ryszard Gruda has been appointed the new president of the National Chamber of Polish Architects. He will stay in this position for the next four years, replacing outgoing Wojciech Gęsiak. Formerly vice-mayor of Gdańsk, Ryszard Gruda will now be promoting integration in the architecture community in Poland and greater control in planning public space in the country. Recently, he acted as the chairman of the Chamber’s disciplinary council. Ryszard Gruda started his professional career in 1976 as the architect of the city of Ciechocinek. He left the position to set up a private practice, which he run for twelve years. In 1990-2002, he served as vice-mayor of Gdańsk, where he was responsible for the city’s spatial development.
