The weather and the players did not disappoint us – and nor did the entertainment that was laid on at the after-party on Friday, June 28th – the day of this year’s 18th Eurobuild annual golf tournament and 14th tennis tournament, organised by Eurobuild Conferences

In the early morning of the big day, almost 100 smiling but fiercely determined competitors gathered at the First Warsaw Golf & Country Club in Rajszew for the first of these events. Two models of Harley-Davidson motorbikes – a Road King Special and a Street Glide Special – were on display to welcome the guests at the entrance to the golf pavilion. The manufacturer of these legendary machines was one of the patrons of the tournament. The players spent several hours on the course, where the weather was perfect – sunny, but not too hot. The tee-off section of the tournament started at 9 am. The golfers set off every 10 minutes in teams of four, to tee off from two holes (1 and 8) at the same time. The last players still competing finally left the field at around 5 pm. Antoni Strzelecki of the First Warsaw Golf & Country Club won the main event in the Stroke Play Gross competition (3.1 J 76), while in the main handicap part of the tournament the first three places in the Strokeplay Net competition went to Nimrod Tavi (13.4 S 68), Marcin Stefański (13.0 MA 71) and Jerzy Staszowski (17.9 S 71) – all members of the First Warsaw Golf & Country Club. Meanwhile, Michał Bieńkowski (also of the First Warsaw Golf & Country Club, clocking a score of 21.5-19-30 44), Marcin Karczewski (Golf Park Józefów, 31.1 MA 43) and Ian Scattergood (the First Warsaw Golf & Country Club) earned themselves places on the podium in the Stableford Net competition. Agnieszka Słowik triumphed in the Ladies Longest Drive category, Krzysztof Klicki in the Men Longest Drive, while Michał Mierzwa was the winner of Closest To The Pin.

More than twenty people new to the game also enrolled in the Golf Academy – to learn the basics of golf under the supervision of a trainer. These beginners also had the chance to pick up trophies, with the winners being: Grzegorz Żochowski (the Longest Drive) and Paweł Hołuj (the Closest to The Pin). ν TC
