CEE project wins ULI competition

The ULI competition recognizes real estate projects that achieve a high standard of excellence in design, construction, economics, planning, and management. European winners included Hungary’s Corvin Promenade, Portugal’s Mercado do Bom Sucesso, the UK’s Sixty London and Norway’s Tjuvholmen. Developed in Budapest by Futureal Group, Corvin Promenade is a 22-ha regeneration project that “creates a civic center for the city’s 8th district.” It was designed by Futureal Group and Rév8, among others. Mercado do Bom Sucesso is a Porto renovated mixed-use public building that houses a shopping center, offices, hotel, and fresh food market. The project’s developer is Urban Market Company et al. The building’s designer is Ferreira de Almeida Arquitectos LDA.


Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the app. 19,500 sqm Sixty London is a Bath House Development office building that incorporates one of London’s historic stone gatehouses.


Tjuvholmen is Oslo's new district that renovates and recovers the city’s waterfront. Developed by Tjuvholmen KS/AS, the project was designed by Niels Torp Arkitekter Mnal et al.


According to jury chair M. Leanne Lachman, the president of real estate consulting firm Lachman Associates, this year’s finalists and winners all “demonstrate high-quality, innovative land use and building design. In addition, many involve historic preservation, public-private partnerships, environmental sustainability, and creative financing. This group of diverse projects is a timely reminder of how thoughtful design plays a central role in community health and longevity,” Lachman said.
