CZECH REPUBLIC Architectural contest launched for Victory Square

Architecture and urban planning
An international architectural and urban planning competition has been launched for the development of the ‘4th quadrant’ of Vítězné náměstí (Victory Square) in Prague’s Dejvice district.

The international architectural competition will take the form of three competition workshops, during which the jury, investors, local authorities and other stakeholders will engage in a joint dialogue directly with the competing teams. Those interested in taking part should their applications, together with a portfolio of reference works, by September 16th, 2022.

Subsequently, the jury will select up to ten teams to participate in the first round of the competition. In the next step, between 3 and 5 concepts are expected to be selected, which are to be further elaborated and improved upon in more detailed proposals in the second round. The investors will negotiate with the winner of the competition on the processing and design of the projects.

Consultations with the public also took place during the spring, in which local residents and regular visitors revealed what they felt was missing in this district and how the development of the square could improve civic amenities. Their opinions are also to be taken into account be the competing architectural teams.

The competition jury is to be made up of prominent figures from the Czech and European architecture scene.
