Albania A centre with towers behind

Architecture and urban planning
Italian Studio Fuksas has won an international competition to design a trade fair and exhibition centre to be built in Tirana. The planned development is to be built on a 10,000-square-metre site on New Boulevard, in the centre of the city.

Studio Fuksas' project envisages a mixed-use complex comprising a 40-storey tower with flats (136m high), a 25-storey hotel (95m high), commercial space of over 23,000 sqm and a 12,000 sqm convention and exhibition centre. The Tirana Fik-Park concept will also include the creation of a new city square with underground parking and a public park.

The project by Chybik + Kristof studio also qualified for the final. The Czech designers proposed a complex consisting of three towers, public and semi-public spaces and the exhibition centre building itself. In their concept, they used red concrete facades, referring to the colour scheme of traditional buildings in Albania.
