POLAND The first woonerf in Gdynia has been officially opened on ul. Abrahama. The project was initiated by residents themselves, and the execution of the project was possible due to the number of votes cast in the civil budget (almost 1,500).
The development of the urban shared zone was originally to cost around PLN 450,000, however, PLN 3.8 mln were finally spent on organising the woonerf – the authorities of Gdynia decided to transfer additional funds, which made it possible to introduce a larger number of modifications, including redevelopment of underground installations. A new, colourful pavement as well as greenery, flowerbeds and flower pots appeared on the section between ul. 10 Lutego and ul. Batorego – e.g. 24 n
