Uzdrowisko Szczawnica focused on renovation
HotelsNicolas Mańkowski, a board member of the group, revealed in an interview with Eurobuild that the company is planning further revitalisations, including the renovation of Sanatorium Papiernik. He has also announced that the company is planning further renovation projects, but has no plans to develop new buildings.
“We have construction work planned for the next eight years only on our existing buildings – these will be modernisations and revitalisations. The buildings that we will renovate are derelict or buildings from the 1950s and 1960s. We also intend to extend our range to other types of properties – apartments for sale and for rent,” he explains. He goes on to add that the sanatoriums owned by the company will increasingly have a wider and more modern range of treatments. “We will be redeveloping sanatorium buildings that are in need of renovation. We still want to cooperate with the National Health Fund, expand our therapeutic range and invest in infrastructure and unique treatments,” reveals Nicolas Mańkowski.
One such project is the refurbishment of the former Hutnik hotel, which is to re-open under the name of Pieniny Grand. The building will not be categorised, but it will complement the company’s leisure and conference range.
“We want to have buildings of every standard, Pieniny Grand is the last missing element of this plan. We wanted to have a place where you can hold large events, forums and conferences. Until now, we did not have anywhere with such a large spa zone and training room. After the opening of the Pieniny Grand, we will be able to offer a completely new quality of accommodation. And Hutnik – ‘the mountain skyscraper’ – gave us with the opportunity to have a hotel with an amazing view of the Pieniny mountains,” ,” adds Nicolas Mańkowski.
The Thermaleo & Uzdrowisko Szczawnica group is managed by the Mańkowski family. It was established after the Uzdrowisko Szczawnica spa town together with properties and plots was restituted in 2005 to the heirs of Count Adam Stadnicki, who then committed to investing in its infrastructure. After the purchase of more buildings and plots, the group now owns 30 ha of land in the resort, as well as the nearby Rajd horse farm in Jaworki. The company intends to develop Uzdrowisko Szczawnica in two directions – as a spa and medical location and as a tourist town with an extensive accommodation, cultural, gastronomic, infrastructural and recreational base.
