USA/POLAND Cavatina unveils US concert hall design

Architecture and urban planning
Polish real estate developer Cavatina Holding has unveiled its concept for the Cavatina Concert Hall on Bainbridge Island in Washington state, on the US western seaboard.

The design of the cornet hall complex has been prepared in cooperation with the Epstein architectural studio. The building is to have a covered concert hall for 500 people and an outdoor amphitheatre with 600 seats, as well as space for art exhibitions, local community meeting rooms and rooms for music and art classes.

The form of the project has been influenced, among others, by historical, cultural and environmental concepts, as well as the achievements of local architecture. This includes the tribal art of local Native American tribes the Salish and the Suquamish, as regards the flowing and organic shape of the building. The figures used in the wood carving of the Salish tribe have also been incorporated into the architecture of the building.

The complex will also feature sustainable design and practices including solar power generation, geothermal heating and cooling, energy-efficient ventilation, hydroponic indoor plants to improve the air quality and other measures to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Cavatina also previously designed the Cavatina Hall concert and recording centre in Bielsko-Biała.
