How to generate higher revenues from a restaurant
Mood (Mood Media)
When we want to attract customers to a restaurant, we must firstly focus on the food. However, it is also a good idea to pay particular attention to the interiors of our premises. As well as ensuring there is an original and practical design, special care needs to be taken with the selection of the colours, because the interior colour scheme is of huge importance in creating a unique atmosphere and mood, which in turn will stimulate the appetites of the guests and result in higher restaurant revenues.
The selection of the interior colour scheme is an important stage in creating the character of a restaurant. It is well known that different colours can make rooms look larger or smaller, they can emphasize the best features while hiding weaknesses, or they can be used to pick out the functional areas of a restaurant. Colour can also greatly influence a customer’s mood; it can directly affect feelings and shape a person’s experience, which has a direct effect on their decisions and their opinions of their consumer experience.
To begin with, we need to specify who are customers are. We need to examine the space and proportions of the interior as well as the number of windows before moving on to selecting the colours for the walls, the furniture, the floors and for any decorative elements. Many studies have shown that colour has a considerable impact on the appetite. For example, blue will discourage you from eating. There was even one experiment in which the same food was coloured differently and the dish coloured blue was the least chosen.
Subdued pastel colours are definitely the safest choice - they don’t irritate the eye and do not overwhelm the guests. Such interiors are easier to decorate and furnish, both visually and functionally - it is easier to make stylistic changes to the furnishings later. When it comes to individual interior design elements for a restaurant, such as a furniture, the curtains and the tablecloths, deep colours are better.
Colours that may influence a restaurant’s revenue:
Red - this colour acts as a stimulus. It is great for restaurants because it enhances the appetite and puts you in a good mood. However, this colour shouldn’t be used for the walls, since being in such a place feels unpleasant and discomforting.
Orange, like red, is particularly recommended for restaurant interiors. It stimulates the appetite and is energising. You can experiment by combining it for example with grey, which is currently in fashion.
Yellow evokes positive feelings. Using delicate shades for interiors makes dining more enjoyable and reduces fatigue.
Beige and brown make you think of warmth, gentleness and softness. They seem both elegant and sophisticated.
Pink is associated with sweetness, tenderness and falling in love. It might be a great option for a themed restaurant.
Gold has long been associated with wealth and success. If we want your restaurant to be a place of grandeur and splendour, this colour will do a great job.
White - is a very easy and safe colour for creating all kinds of arrangements for premises. It goes perfectly with other colours. Unfortunately, it is difficult to maintain.
Black gives rooms a chic and elegant look. But it is best not to overdo it, otherwise, it will overwhelm the guests and make them feel tired. It is worthwhile using this colour, for such things as the furnishings and decorative elements.
