Out for a duck
It is my pleasure to inform the readers picking up the magazine at MAPIC in Cannes that the ‘duck-era’ in Poland has now finished. Hopefully for ever. The majority of Poles have now said a resounding “no” to the paranoid policy of rooting out the “back-door deals” which were supposed to be hidden everywhere, with almost everyone being a potential suspect. This is over for now and we do hope the new government will really be able to focus on improving the economy, the health service, our natural and business environments, as well as building positive relationships with our neighbours. And that they will not forget to change the stupid laws for retailers and retail developers which have unnecessarily made their lives more difficult. This topic was discussed in-depth at the Eurobuild roundtable with four respected developers. See p. 10.
Because this is the MAPIC issue, we are happy to present you with a supplement included with the magazine – a guide to Polish emerging retail hot spots. The smaller cities (and there are quite a lot of them in Poland) are the subject of this pull-out – and could just be your next destination…
