Woolly thinking

 Insulating boom

Jerzy Kwiatkowski is the president of Kwiat – Systemy Ociepleń (Kwiat – Insulating Systems). “We insulate 150,000 sqm annually, i.e. The bosses of insulating companies are all experiencing the same headache of too few qualified workers. According to Jerzy Kwiatkowski: “Many have left to work abroad, while we need at least nine to as many as thirty people to insulate one building, depending on the scale of the project.”

One effect of the insulating boom is the growing deficit of rock mineral wool in Polish factories, which is practically unavailable until the year’s end.

Jerzy Kwiatkowski reveals that: “We’ve still got enough wool for the jobs we planned until the end of the year, but do not have even the smallest reserve.”

The reason for this is given by Wiesław Romańczuk, sales director of Isover Polska: “We can deliver glass fibre orders within 7 days, while rock mineral wool deliveries take as much as 4 months.”

Adam Białek of Atlas adds: “Today mineral wool can be purchased through an internet auctioneering website. The reason might be that whole consignments of wool have been purchased by dealers who are now selling it at a huge profit.”
