Organized by Gdańsk City Council and ‘Eurobuild Poland’, the conference was officially opened by Paweł Adamowicz and Jacek Karnowski, the respective mayors of Gdańsk and Sopot – and Jan Kozłowski, Leader of the Pomeranian Provincial Council. Representatives of the Gdańsk municipality presented an analysis of the concepts for the city’s development in the first discussion panel and outlined the progress so far achieved in planning. There was also a presentation on the urban investors services system as well as the related administrative procedures which have been introduced. After the break, a panel was held on Pomerania as an all-year tourist destination, with new ideas put forward on how to attract more tourists to the Tricity. There was also a heated debate on planned warehousing investments, which could eventually turn Pomerania into a new Polish logistics power. A study of new office developments in the Tricity also generated considerable emotion.
After lunch, attention turned to the coastal residential market. This debate was followed by a discussion on retail, with a presentation about new customer attraction methods, as well as current and pipeline shopping centre projects, while an analysis of the purchasing potential of Gdańsk’s citizens was also presented.
The official section ended when the participants were taken on a tour of Gdańsk’s most important development sites. The final item on the agenda was a banquet at the Holiday Inn.
Marcin Szpak, the deputy mayor of the city, closed the conference by inviting all the participants to the third Fast Forward Gdańsk Conference next year. z
