Reconstruction of Zakopianka
BEG Ingenierie Polska and Cefic Polska, developers of the Zakopianka retail centre in Kraków, are planning its enlargement. Beginning of construction works is scheduled for March or April 2004. The new part of the building should be opened in December this year.
Award for J.W. Construction
The developer J.W. Construction received the award "Company of the Year 2003", awarded by Polski Klub Biznesu (the Polish Business Club). The award justification states it was granted "for great achievements in housing construction and the unquestionable position of leader in that industry". J.W. Construction has been active on the development market since 1993. During 10 years the company has commissioned 13,500 flats and 300 detached houses in and around Warsaw.
Jeans factory
Jeans (of among others Lee and Wrangler) will still be produced in Łódź, but in a new factory to be built for VF Polska (representative of VF Corporation) for around PLN 20 million by the general contractor Budimex Dromex. The factory, which will include a 10,000 sqm shed and an office building, will be ready as soon as at the end of September this year and will cost EUR 6.5 million. Cushman & Wakefield H&B assisted the investor in working on the project.
Contracts of Budimex at the borders of the country
Budimex has signed a contract to construct a vehicle border crossing Grzechotki - Mamonowo (Warmińsko - Mazurskie Province of Poland) with Przedsiębiorstwo Usługowo-Budowlane Inspec [Inspect Service and Construction Company]. The contract is worth over PLN 41 million, the work to be completed by the end of September 2005. An affiliated company of Budimex, Budimex-Dromex, has signed with the Lubelskie Province Head [Wojewoda] a contract for reconstruction of the border crossing Hrebenne. The contract is worth EUR 9.9 million. Work is to be completed in mid-November 2004.
Demolition at Nowe Miasto
Demolition is in progress at the construction site of the Nowe Miasto project in Kraków. Among others, an old post office building is to disappear from the site. After demolition of certain buildings, removal of rubble will begin and may last as long as three weeks. In the middle of last month Tshman, the developer, submitted its construction permit application for first facilities of the Nowe Miasto project. The project will be carried out together with the German ECE Projektmanagement.
