Atlas talk to Americans about cement plant investment
The cement producers Atlas are holding discussions with American firms, with a
view to securing finance to build a PLN 500 mln cement plant in Poland. Other
options open to the company are a stock exchange flotation or a loan. The
potential investors are reported to be leading companies on the American cement
producers' market.
Production capacity in the new factory will be around one million tonnes a year.
MZ: new contract and subsidiary sold
Mostostal Zabrze has again been appointed general constructor of the office and
hotel complex UNI Centrum in Katowice, in southern Poland, after signing a
contract with investor Business Centre 2000. On April 4th, another agreement was
signed between MZ, BC 2000 and Kredyt Bank to compensate each company's claims
and liabilities concerning the financing and development of UNI Centrum.
As part of its restructuring process, Mostostal Zabrze has sold its subsidiary
Wytwórnia Konstrukcji Stalowych Mostostal Chojnice, which specializes in steel
structure elements' production. It has been acquired by KEM, a
trade-production-service company from Dabrowa Górnicza in southern Poland.
Tender for A4 road construction concluded
A consortium of the Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil and the Austrian firm Strabag has won a tender to build a stretch of the A4 road between Zgorzelec in the west of Poland, near the German border and Medyka, which borders Ukraine in the east. The cost of the work is EUR 63.6 mln.
Mostostal Gdańsk declared insolvent
A court in Gdańsk announced construction firm Mostostal Gdańsk's bankruptcy on
April 14th. The decision was made because the company's total property was
deemed insufficient to pay off its debts.
The company's shares have been withdrawn from the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
