Polnord Group records PLN 0.2 mln profit
The Polish construction Group Polnord has announced a PLN 0.2 mln profit for the
3rd quarter of 2002.
Polnord, which specialises in construction among other activities, was general
constructor for the Auchan hypermarkets in Gdańsk (24,000 sqm) and Warszawa-Białołęka
(28,500 sqm) and developer for its flagship project, the residential building Królewski
Trakt Apartamenty in Warsaw.
Hochtief Polska estimates its performance for 2002
Hochtief Polska President Uwe Krueger, has estimated that his company's turnover for 2002 will come to PLN 750 mln. He has also expressed confidence that Hochtief will make a profit this year and would not deny that his company has plans to acquire other construction firms over the next twelve months.
Lower profit for Bilfinger and Berger
German construction group Bilfinger and Berger's profit for the first nine
months of 2002 has experienced a 21% drop and stands at Eur 21 mln, though BB is
maintains it will achieve a total 2002 profit of Eur 60 mln.
Bilfinger and Berger operates in Poland under its own name but is also a major
shareholder in the Polish construction company, Hydrobudowa 6.
Skanska Group's report
The Skanska Group has published a report covering a nine month period from
January 2002, in which an operating income of over EUR 211.8 mln (SEK 1.926 bln)
was recorded.
Skanska's operating income for the 3rd quarter of 2002 has reached over EUR 96.3
mln (SEK 876 mln) and Swedish newspaper 'Dagens Industri' commented that 'Skanska's profit has increased despite reduced
sales' and that 'at the close of
the third quarter, Skanska's number of unsold apartments was 637, most of
which were in Poland'.
EUR 660.8 mln allocated for roads in Małopolska region by 2006
The Polish government has allocated PLN 2.6 bln for road construction in the
south-west Małopolska region, including the completion of the southern part of
the ring road around Kraków, which will total PLN 400 mln zloty of investment (EUR 101.7 mln) by the state
budget, the European Investment Bank and the EU
Phare programme and is expected to be complete by May 2004.
Another project worth PLN 1 bln (EUR 254.2 mln) will involve the construction of
a road from Kraków to Tarnów, to begin in either 2004 or 2005 and is due for
completion in 2007.
