A special issue for a special occasion

Editorial
What could bring the sharpest cards on the office space market and its key advisors together at the same time, in the same place and at one table? There’s only one answer – proptech!

“Investing in proptech involves a risk, but unless we do it a real estate ‘Uber’ will emerge and make us obsolete,” they warned. Is that enough to convince you to invest in the latest tech? It works for me. This topic, which is exciting the minds and imaginations of those in the sector, was discussed at a deeper level during a special debate on new technology that we organised together with CBRE, to which we invited key people from office development companies. So be sure to delve further into our coverage of the debate, entitled ‘Biting the Proptech Bullet’, as well as CBRE’s report on the use of proptech in Warsaw office buildings – ‘All the Mod Cons’.

Richard Aboo of Cushman & Wakefield has also moved on to the next stage, after being promoted to head of the office department for the EMEA region at C&W. He first came to Poland to study in 1989. In this issue he takes us on a journey in time to tell us, as someone who not only witnessed but also helped to shape the transformation of Poland, about the birth and subsequent evolution of the commercial real estate market (‘The Metamorphosis Man’). The icing on the cake for this special issue for the Expo Real investment fair is our supplement ‘Fighting for E-quality’, dedicated to the warehouse market. You’re likely to have a busy schedule at the fair, but if you get a chance for a coffee it’s worth taking a moment to read the rest of the magazine – as well as meeting up with the Eurobuild team in Munich. We look forward to seeing you there.
