The Bridge rises at Plac Europejski

Photo story
At Plac Europejski in Warsaw, a new skyscraper, The Bridge, is now taking shape. The 174m tower is Ghelamco’s latest development on the site close to the Rondo Daszyńskiego roundabout, following the award-winning Warsaw Spire. It is to be one of the most environmentally friendly and technologically advanced high-rise buildings in Central and Eastern Europe

The Bridge will have 40 floors and will offer future users a total of 47,000 sqm of office space along with 280 parking spaces and 150 spaces for bicycles. It will also feature a sky terrace on the 40th floor for the exclusive use of its tenants.

Work is underway to connect the skyscraper with the Bellona publishing house building, which will also form part of the office complex. This historic building, complete with its hall and grand staircase, is to be carefully reconstructed. Both buildings will be linked by a three-storey common lobby. One of its most distinctive features will be the huge (up to 18m in height) concrete pillars arranged in a V-shape, which are already visible, while the tower’s glass-panelled façade will be decorated with ornamental blades.

The Bridge will also be fitted with state-of-the-art technological and environmentally friendly systems. The skyscraper is to be energy neutral and powered by 100 pct clean energy supplied by photovoltaic farms. A building energy management system (BMS) is to be used to monitor and manage energy parameters, while a vacuum sewer system will be used to minimise water consumption. Measures will also be employed to prevent the spread of viruses, including virucidal UV lamps in the lifts and air handling units.

In addition to aiming for SmartScore and WiredScore certification at the highest ‘Platinum’ level, the tower is also to be Well, Well Health Safety Rating, BREEAM, Green Building Standard and Barrier-Free Facility systems certified.

The Bridge has been designed by Dutch architects UNStudio in cooperation with Polsko Belgijska Pracownia Architektury: Projekt PBPA. The development is scheduled for completion in Q1 2025.
