Gold and green medals

Editorial
This is my last chance to mention something about Euro 2012. Five years have gone by since the UEFA announcement that Poland and Ukraine had been chosen to be the co-hosts of the tournament.

Since then much has been said about the event, the preparations for it and lately about their shortcomings. Perhaps even too much has been said, so you shouldn't expect me to be able to add anything revealing or even interesting to this topic. And one wrong word and I will be suspected of a lack of patriotism by football fans. June is for them and I keep my fingers crossed for it turning out to be a good time for everyone. Personally, I prefer runners to footballers. On the Sunday morning of May 27th, I turned out to support the teams taking part in Warsaw's Accreo Ekiden run. Among the competitors, I saw the Arup Greyhounds and three teams from Arcadis flash past me on the 42 km relay route. May also saw the triumph of the best runner in the local heat of the Towerrunning World Cup. The runners in the contest had to climb the 836 steps leading to the top of Warsaw's Rondo 1 office building. The tower has also been a winner itself, as it can boast a green certificate - namely, a LEED ?Gold' certificate for an existing European building. The benefits of being a leader when it comes to environmentally-friendly solutions in the real estate world are debated in this issue by the panel of experts we invited to discuss the topic. I take my hat off to all the winners and runners, and I also applaud those investors who have realised that the greening of the sector is now unstoppable.
