“JLL’s annual initiative for raising funds for children in need is quite simply fantastic. I am very happy that the commercial real estate community has put their hands in their pockets for this very deserving cause once again. See you next year!” This was the ecstatic response of Jarosław Wnuk, the head of CEE transactions and portfolio management at Goodman, when asked to describe the July event. The tournament and party was attended by 1,000 people, including 224 contestants in 32 teams

Arecord amount – almost PLN 187,000 – was raised at the event, which took place at Warsaw’s La Playa Music Bar on July 31st. The money came from the teams’ entry fees as well as an auction of sponsored prizes, including basketball balls signed by NBA player Marcin Gortat (bought by Jarosław Wnuk), a tailor-made suit (Tomasz Trzósło) and a camera (Ben Bannatyne, Prologis). The funds raised have been donated to the Happy Kids foundation for the construction of a family-style children’s home in Dąbrówka near Zgierz. The cheque was presented by Tomasz Trzósło, the managing director of JLL in Poland, to Aleksander Kartasiński, the president of the board of the Happy Kids foundation. A record number of contestants (224) took part in the volleyball tournament, representing Polish and international companies connected with the real estate sector, including: Adgar Poland, Capital Park, Cushman & Wakefield, DTZ, CBRE, Dentons/Valad, Evigo, Balmain Asset Management, BlackRock, Colliers, BNP Paribas Real Estate, Ghelamco, Knight Frank, Echo Investment, HB Reavis, ECI, Heitman, JLL, MLP Group, Kulczyk Silverstein Properties, Neinver, Prologis, Skanska, Multi Development Poland, NAI Estate Fellows, Panattoni Europe, PZU Inwestycje, Savills, Segro, TPA Horwath, Warbud and Unibail-Rodamco. Following some fiercely contested matches, the first prize in the tournament went to a team made up of TriGranit and TPA Horwath employees. The silver medal was won by Prologis’ volleyball players, while the bronze went to MLP Group’s team. The party afterwards, which lasted long into the night, probably also broke a few records – in terms of the fun that was had by all. ν
