All roads lead to MIPIM
Warsaw’s city mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz knows just how many developers would like to take her waltzing in Warsaw. Poland’s largest city offers business many attractions. Investment is growing at an impressive pace especially with the incentive to meet the deadline of the Euro 2012 football championships. The first woman to take the helm of the city describes Warsaw’s huge potential in the interview ‘Waltz on to the scene’ (p. 56). A variety of steps, including the waltz, will also be danced in Cannes, with MIPIM only a few weeks away and where we shall, as usual, be in attendance. May we suggest you use any time off between meetings to browse through our magazine. In it we wonder what form of investment financing is best, following the American sub-prime cold shower (p.50). In a special section of our magazine, designed with investors looking for business opportunities at the property fair in mind, we suggest it may be worthwhile booking a flight from Cannes direct to Sofia. You will surely find that you could do a lot worse than secure land for an office investment in Sofia (‘Small is beautiful, but expensive’ p. 60). But why not travel by train instead of plane, since property gurus are focusing much attention on the future of the sustainable environment, especially those who deal in warehouse space. We write in an article entitled ‘Greener than thou’ about sustainable development (p. 84) in the logistics industry. As regards expeditions, this time we strongly recommend a trip to Romania. In our article we take a tempting look at the country of Dracula, mountains and sunflowers, while in ‘Go east’, lawyers give advice on how to avoid the pitfalls existing in this still young market.
