Details of Raffles Europejski Warsaw
HotelsRaffles Europejski Warsaw will have 106 guest rooms and suites with oak floors and an art gallery with works from the collections of Anda Rottenberg and Barbara Piwowarska. The so-called Raffles Suite will be 293 sqm. Designed by Enrico (known in Poland as Henryk) Marconi, in cooperation of Marceli Berendt, Leandro Marconi and Władysław Mierzejewski and opened in 1857, the hotel was devastated during the World War II. In 2005 the building was returned to its pre-war owners and then a majority stake was sold to Vera Michalski-Hoffmann. The interior design is by WWAA, Boris Kudlička (the designer of the National Opera) and APA Wojciechowski. Furniture and lighting will be produced by local craftsmen and designers.
Images of Warsaw can be found throughout the hotel: The city’s skyline is etched into the marble of the bathrooms and the river Vistula is pictured in an art installation behind the reception desk. The original cornicing and ceiling roses are to be restored in the restaurant and there will be a spa with six treatment rooms and a swimming pool with a mosaic from the 1960s. The design for the Signature restaurant overlooking Pilsudski Square is by Lazaro Rosa Violan. The interiors will have a blue and white colour scheme similar to traditional Polish pottery. The hotel will also include a Long Bar, a Humidor, and a patisserie.
“We are delighted to be opening the iconic Raffles Europejski Warsaw (...), to which we will bring the legendary Raffles service, known for its benchmark standard across the globe, as well as a series of gastronomic delights, stunning ballroom and conference facilities, and a beautiful spa,” said Chris Cahill, CEO AccorHotels Luxury Brands.
Julien Barbotin-Larrieu of HESA, the owner of the hotel, explained the company’s choice of the Raffles brand: “With Raffles at the helm of the hotel, a brand synonymous with heritage and luxury, whose own illustrious history, began just thirty years after the Europejski’s with the iconic Raffles Singapore, we feel confident about bringing a new level of luxury to Warsaw; one that is as much about the cultural experience as the comfort. Our aim is to provide a real sense of place, allowing guests to understand the soul of Poland by immersing themselves in the art, the gastronomy and the history which they will be surrounded with, on a level as yet unsurpassed in the capital.”
The Raffles collection currently includes eleven hotels from around the world including: Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris, the former War Office in London, Raffles Dubai, Raffles Hotel Singapore Grande Dame and hotels in Istanbul, Jeddah and in the Seychelles.
