Government takes on board PRCH recommendations

Coronavirus
POLAND The range of temporary trading restrictions in Polish retail buildings above 2,000 sqm imposed by the Ministry of Health has been clarified after consultations with the Polish Council of Shopping Centres [PRCH] and the Ministry of Development.

The clarified regulations, which came into force on March 21st, are additional to those announced on March 13th and imposed the next day. They do not apply to stores of less than 2,000 sqm or to the sale of food, cosmetics, toiletries and cleaning products, medicinal products (including in pharmacies or pharmaceutical outlets), medical devices, special-purpose foodstuffs, newspapers, construction or DIY goods, pet products and fuel. retail islands and other services are to remain closed, with the exceptions being: medical, banking, insurance, postal, laundry and catering (i.e. food preparation and delivery).

“Since the publication of the original directive, we have received hundreds of enquires from tenants and landlords of retail buildings asking for clarifying it. That is why the PRCH recommended that the government draw up a closed list of trading restrictions that takes into account not only the requests of relevant businesses, but also consultations with the Chamber of Press Publishers [IWP] and the Cosmetics Business Poland chamber, (among others) Our proposed amendments has basically been taken on board. This will allow many tenants and landlords to immediately introduce the changes and should dispel interpretation doubts arising from the original list of regulations announced on March 13th,” comments Radosław Knap, the general director and a board member of the PRCH.
