Landlords underwhelmed by emergency relief

CEE REGION Preliminary CEE investment volumes for Q1 2020 amounted to app. EUR 3.7 bln, despite the onset of Covid-19 in the region in early March – according to Colliers International’s latest research report.
This volume was significantly boosted by the app. EUR 1.3 bln acquisition of the Residomo portfolio in the Czech Republic by Heimstaden, but the turnover was still 68 pct higher than the figure for Q1 2019 (EUR 2.2 bln) and 28 pct more than Q1 2018 (EUR 2.9 bln). Poland took the lion share of the Q1 volume (48 pct), followed by the Czech Republic (39 pct), Slovakia (5 pct), Romania (4 pct), Hungary (2 pct) and Bulgaria (2 pct). The first quarter of 2026 brought a significant revival to the commercial real estate market in Poland. Investment volume was more than EUR 1 bln, representing an increase of over 40 pct year-on-year and the highest figure for this period in several years. Despite a lower number of transactions, their value increased (EUR 635 mln in Q1 2025).
