Carrefour donates PLN 2 mln to fight pandemic

Coronavirus
POLAND The Carrefour Foundation and Carrefour Polska are donating around PLN 2 mln to Polish hospitals for the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The Carrefour Foundation is supporting Polish hospitals through its Caritas Polska #Wdziecznimedykom campaign, by donating more than PLN 1.3 mln for the purchase of respirators and personal protective equipment for doctors.

Carrefour Polska will be providing 41 infectious disease hospitals in selected Polish cities with food and hygiene products for their staff and has designated PLN 650,000 for this purpose.

The support provided to Polish hospitals by the Carrefour Foundation through Caritas will go towards the purchase of respirators as well as personal protective equipment for doctors – including masks, white coats, gloves and helmets. Carrefour Polska will also assist Caritas in acquiring new partners for the #Wdziecznimedykom campaign to enable it to raise the full amount necessary for hospitals that have applied for this assistance.

The campaign will be promoted in Carrefour stores, catalogues, on cashier screens and on social media, to encourage companies and individual donors to make donations.

“Together with the Carrefour Foundation, we have started cooperating with Caritas Polska with the aim of providing Polish hospitals with the funds needed to save human lives. We hope that by supporting the Polish medical services we will contribute to controlling the epidemic as effectively as possible and reducing its negative effects on society and the economy,” comments Christophe Rabatel, the CEO of Carrefour Polska.
