POLAND Italian drilling and engineering company Saipem has been awarded a EUR 280 mln contract by the Polish gas transmission operator Gaz-System for the transportation and installation of a natural gas pipeline between Denmark and Poland in the Baltic Sea. A permit for the work to take place in Swedish waters has also now been issued, allowing the project to go ahead.

ROMANIA Austrian constructor Strabag has been commissioned to build a 640m cable-stayed bridge across the river Someș in the western Romanian city of Satu Mare.
CZECH REPUBLIC Skanska has been awarded a CZK 900 mln [app. EUR 33 mln] contract by The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic [ŘSD ČR] to construct a new bypass for Karviná, close to the Polish border in the Moravian-Silesian region of the country.
