Another year behind us
The end of the year is a time of summing up and settling accounts. We look back on the passing year and make plans for the future. In this issue we take a look back at the time when the first supermarkets were being opened in Poland with Piotr Korek, the vice-president of Tesco in Poland. Recalling the beginning of the 1990s it is obvious that tremendous changes have taken place in less than 20 years. Nowadays it is hard to believe that the opening of a large-format store or a popular McDonald's used to be a sensation on a national scale. But what seemed to be a novelty in the past does not evoke any such emotion these days. Will we experience more revolutionary changes in the next 10 or 20 years? Everything points to the fact that we will. The property market in Central and Eastern Europe is continuing to develop in a most dynamic way. Even turbulence in the global economy cannot hold back the changes. Internet-based retail has been growing in prominence. And so virtual reality is forcing changes on the real world. The world has changed and it is rushing forward. Christmas time allows us, if only for a while, to stop and catch our breath. And this is what I wish all of you - a time of peace, relaxation and renewed strength to face the new challenges. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
