Arc2 to design Gdańsk planetarium

The app. 13,300 sqm planetarium will be built in Centrum Hewelianum and will be bearing a Latin name – Stellaeburgum. The project, which will involve the construction of the underground facility with a planetarium hall, an exhibition area, a teaching room and some office as well as technical space, is planned to be erected in an embankment along the dry moat between Kaponiera Południowa and Galeria Strzelecka in Gdańsk. A section of the Carnot’s wall, which used to surround the fortifications of Góra Gradowa, is also to be embraced by the work. The layout of the planetarium’s hall, which will have a vault in the shape of a semi-sphere, is to be wheel-shaped. The hall is set to accommodate app. 80 people. Apart from the presentation of the sky, the visitors will be able to watch screenings on the ceiling. The facility will also be available for organizing concerts and science shows.
