New Moscow design chosen

RUSSIA Capital Cities Planning Group has won the design competition for a new federal district to the southwest of Moscow, which will double the metropolitan area of the city.
The consortium was chosen out of ten participants in the competition, another of which, Antoine Grumbach/Jean-Michel Wilmotte of France, was chosen for the overall planning of the capital. The Russian federal government is to be re-housed in the “New Moscow” district, the design of which also includes new transportation systems, a financial centre, a research and development district and a university campus, as well as green infrastructure to support the development of a zero carbon city.
