New player on the market
The German bank Hamburgische Landesbank - Girozentrale is planning to start operating in Poland. A representation of HL-G will open in Warsaw on 3rd September and will finance office projects, retail centres and hotels. Last year Hamburgische Landesbank - Girozentrale granted credits of EURO 12 billion to the real estate market, which is a 14,4 percent increase compared to 2000.
New issue of mortgage bonds
Rheinhyp-BRE bank Hipoteczny has announced the issue of PLN 50 million
mortgage bonds on 29th July. The first public issue of these securities will be in the
first quarter of 2003.
The July issue is the seventh in over 2 years of the bank's prescence in the Polish
market. It is based on granted credits, whose total exceeded PLN 900 million at the end of
the first half of 2002.
New owner in ul. Marynarska
The German investment fund ZEI (Zentral Europa Immobilien Fonds), managed
by HypoVereinsbank, is the new owner of the office building in ul. Marynarska in
Warsaw. The transaction with ALMA, was recently approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs
and Administration, but the amount remains confidential.
The building's, (gross area, 7,00 sqm.), current tenants are Renault, Fortis Bank,
Altadis and Medicover. Cushman & Wakefield. H&B represented the buyer, and DTZ
Zadelhoff Tie Leung the seller.
EIB lends EUR 200 million and analyses airport
The European Investment Bank, has lent EUR 200 million to Bank
Gospodarstwa Krajowego, to renovate old housing and develop energy-saving social housing
in Poland, especially in regions with the highest demand. Credit was granted
for 25 years.
EIB is financing construction of the Cross-City Road in Upper Silesia (Górny Śląsk) as
well. The EUR 80 million credit will be repaid over 20 years. It is not the first loan
- back in 1998 the Bank lent EUR 100 million for this purpose.
The bank's headquarters in Luxembourg, also informed us that it is interested in
financing the extension of Warsaw Okęcie Airport, but negotiations are still at an early
stage.
EIB lent EURO 50 million for the construction of the existing airport. During its 11 years
on the Polish market, the bank has granted credits amounting to EURO 5 billion.
