Europe points its big guns at Amazon

EUROPE The European Commission has opened a formal antitrust investigation to assess whether Amazon's use of sensitive data from independent retailers who sell on its marketplace is in breach of EU competition rules.
Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, in charge of competition policy, said: "European consumers are increasingly shopping online. E-commerce has boosted retail competition and brought more choice and better prices. We need to ensure that large online platforms don't eliminate these benefits through anti-competitive behaviour. I have therefore decided to take a very close look at Amazon's business practices and its dual role as marketplace and retailer, to assess its compliance with EU competition ru

Poland Office market in Warsaw remains stable

In the first half of 2025, 85,000 sqm was added to the Warsaw office market, of which 93 pct was delivered to the central zones mainly due to prestigious projects such as The Bridge (51,800 sqm) and Office House (27,800 sqm), according to the latest report from Axi Immo, titled 'The office market in Warsaw in H1 2025'. At the same time, the vacancy rate remains stable (10.8 pct), with 140,000 sqm under construction at the end of June 2025.

At the end of H1 modern office stock across Poland's regional cities came to 6.75 mln sqm, according to data from Avison Young. New supply came to 2,400 sqm with 200,000 sqm under construction, while demand stood at 387,000 sqm. Quarter on quarter the vacancy rate remained stable at 17.5 pct.
