WORLD Online second had clothes store Thredup store has created a Fashion Footprint Calculator to calculate the carbon footprint of your purchasing habits.

The survey comprises twelve questions about shopping and laundry habits. According to CNN.com, the fashion sector is responsible for 8-10 pct of the global carbon emissions and it generates 20 pct of all water pollution. The average consumer buys 60 pct more clothes than 15 years ago and keeps them only half as long. According to Thredup, 50 pct of Americans surveyed do not believe that their individual shopping habits have an impact on the environment, while 68 pct of those surveyed believe that brands and not consumers need to be held responsible for the damage done to the environment.
