Wildberries growing in Slovakia

SLOVAKIA Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, has entered the Slovakian market. The company has also anounced that it is considering investing EUR 200 mln in the development of a distribution centre in the country.

Wildberries can now offer 1.7 mln products from 18,000 brands to Slovakian consumers. At the moment these include women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, footwear, accessories and toys. The first pick-up point In the country is at Tomášikova 5724/7 in Bratislava. Its courier delivery service extends to 100 km from the city, with the service planned to be widened in the near future. Its online store in the country is available in both Slovak and English.

“E-commerce is actively developing in Slovakia and its residents are open to online shopping. Wildberries will offer its new customers in the country a wide range of products in various price categories. As a large online retailer, we cooperate with well-known international brands and small local businesses. In addition, Wildberries is ready for active partnership with Slovak manufacturers, who in the future will have the opportunity to sell their products online,” reveals Vyacheslav Ivaschenko, Wildberries’ business development director.

Wildberries is also considering investing around EUR 200 mln in a distribution centre in Slovakia. in January the online retailer also launched sales in Poland. Since then it has opened 24 branded ordering outlets in Poland and its courier delivery covers the country’s entire territory.

The company now operates in seven countries where it has around 7,500 branded pick-up points. It receives around 750,000 orders a day. Last year the company generated revenue of EUR 3.1 bln (a 94 pct y-o-y increase).

According to data from the National Bank of Romania analyzed by the Cushman & Wakefield Echinox, the real estate and construction sector became the second largest recipient of foreign capital in Romania, after industry. The sector attracted approx. EUR 2.2 bln of foreign direct investments in 2023, as the share of this economic activity in the overall FDI stock stood at 17.5 pct at the end of 2023.
