Cornerstone laid for Forum Gdańsk

Multi Poland has held the ground-breaking ceremony at the Forum Gdańsk shopping centre. The mall, which is being built adjacent to the main railway station in the city, will offer 63,000 sqm gla with 220 stores. Investment costs, including the road infrastructure, are to come to app. PLN 800 mln (EUR 194 mln). Preparatory work in the project including archaeological excavations began in autumn 2014. The opening of the centre is scheduled for 2017. Forum Gdańsk forms part of the revitalisation of the historic former Hay and Crayfish markets (Targ Sienny and Targ Rakowy), and will combine a retail scheme with the creation of public space and the modernisation of the road infrastructure. For the project, which is being carried out in cooperation with Gdańsk city conncil and PKP [Polish State Railways], Multi Poland will cover the railway line running through the land. “We are bringing the Hay and Crayfish markets back to life and back to their original functions. Years ago this area was a lively marketplace, and also the first stop for those arriving in Gdańsk.” said Paweł Adamowicz, the mayor of Gdańsk. Forum Gdańsk will feature the city’s largest, nine-screen Multikino cinema, a Pure Jatomi fitness club, a selection of restaurants and cafés to suit every taste, and a multi-storey car park for 1,100 vehicles. The centre is already over 50 pct leased. Tenants already on board include well-known Polish and international brands, such as C&A, City Sport, Deichmann, Diverse, Douglas, H&M, Le Coq Sportif, Mango, Pandora, Piotr i Pawel, Red Rubin, Rossmann, Solar, Super-Pharm, Swiss, Triumph, Vistula, W.Kruk and Wólczanka.
