Hochtief Polska's new menu
German company Hochtief, has established a new Central and Eastern European unit which, since the beginning of this year, has included Hochtief Polska who are looking to expand their business with services such as construction management and management contracting
Henryk Liszka, the new head of Hochtief Polska, who took over
from Uwe Krüger, currently President of Hochtief Central and Eastern Europe, is
in charge of implementing the new areas of activity. Mr. Liszka who, for the
last 12 years has presided over the Polish section of Bovis Lend Lease, is a
well-known figure in construction circles. He has knowledge and experience in
the area of construction management and management contracting, and therefore
should prove an invaluable addition to the company.
Hochtief's new president stresses that general contracting will remain the
company's core activity. However, by extending its "menu" to include
new services (besides infrastructure and public-private partnership projects),
the company is looking to win new contracts, including from the public sector.
"We will use the know-how of our colleagues from the German branch in Essen,"
says Henryk Liszka and adds: "having said that, Poland too has skilled and
knowledgeable engineers. We may establish a new unit specializing in
infrastructure projects as part of Hochtief Polska, but there's no rush. First
we'll carry out a couple of projects and then analyze their outcome and draw
conclusions for the future.
Henryk Liszka emphasizes that in order for public-private partnership projects
to become commonplace in Poland, current law must be changed to incorporate
banks in ppp schemes, and goes on to say that the construction sector is
lobbying Parliament to this effect.
